The Wathaurong Health Service provides Primary and Allied Health Services to the community as well as community base Aboriginal Health Programs including Koorie Maternity Service, Alcohol & Other Drugs and Spiritual and Emotional Wellbeing, Health Literacy and Assertive Outreach. Onsite services include: bulk billing G.P clinic, Aboriginal Health Workers (AHW) Program, Men’s and Women’s wellbeing clinics, Chronic Disease Management, Registered Nurse Team. The Health Service also has in kind services visiting through various relationships and Memorandums of Understanding, some of these include Barwon Health: Audiology, Dental, Paediatrics, Obstetrics, Endocrinology and Psychiatric; Counselling through Barwon Centre Against Sexual Assault; Eye and Ear Health through Australian Hearing and the Rural Workforce Agency Victoria (RWAV); Diabetes Education; Home Medication Reviews and Pharmacy support and G.P Registrar Training. In 2016 Wathaurong commenced an Outreach G.P clinic to Colac, supported by health service staff of Registered Nurses and Aboriginal Health Workers.
We continue to work with other organisations and agencies in achieving better results for the Health and wellbeing of Aboriginal people and their families – Primary Health Network, Deakin University (Institute of Koorie Education and School of Medicine), Minerva Community Services, Colac Area Health, Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (VACCHO) and the National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO).
